Wondering how to prepare for your tattoo and how to take care of the healing process after the session is over?

Pre-care guide

  • hydrate your body for at least 3 days before your session. This will help to make your skin more receptive to the ink and needle.

  • Take a shower before your appointment. Don’t bother putting on moisturizer before the appointment as it will be removed anyways.

  • Eat a carb heavy and nourishing meal before the appointment. For long sessions please bring snacks that have sugar/carbs. Fueling your body makes a huge improvement on the experience.

  • AVOID drinking alcohol 24 hours before the appointment. alcohol thins the blood, making it harder for me to see what im doing because you will bleed heavier, also causing me to wipe more (which sucks), and may cause the tattoo to not pack in as well.

  • AVOID drinking caffeine before the appointment, this also thins your blood.

  • AVOID getting a sunburn. I cant tattoo over a sunburn.

After-care guide

  • never hesitate to reach out to me for any questions, but heres a reminder of aftercare you can refer to after the appointment.

  • Aftercare should last as long as the tattoo takes to heal to prevent infection and protect your tattoo from falling out. Tattoos tend to heal anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on the amount of trauma the skin needs to heal from and is also a reflection of your dedication to properly caring for your body art.

  • here’s what to expect from a healing tattoo. The first 1-3 days will be the “freshest” stage of healing. depending on the size and details will affect the amount of swelling and plasma leaking from the tattoo. (if you had a small tattoo you will not get the tattoo flu) If you’ve had a full day session you may get the “tattoo flu” which will go away withing two days depending on how your body responds to healing, the way I reccomend to fix/prevent this is to drink A LOT of water after the tattoo session, eat a nutrient dense meal, and sleep. the next two to three weeks you can expect itching and peeling- it is important that you leave it the fuck alone. if its itching just clean it and moisturize it again, tattoo salve is the best for relieving the itching which is why i reccomend it.

  • after your appointment please take off the wrap either in the night before bed or in the morning when you wake up, we will go over this in person.

  • twice a day, mornings and nights: clean with non fragranced antibacterial soap, pat dry with a clean towel, and moisturize with a non fragranced lightweight lotion or tattoo salve.

  • if your tattoo comes in contact with an animal, gets dirty, you get sweaty, ect. please clean and moisturize again. you do not want to let your tattoo sit with any bacteria that could cause an infection or dry out after you clean it.

  • DO NOT over moisturize. Only use a light layer. If you are experiencing you skin become almost scab like and cracking from dryness you most likely need to add more moisturizer. please always contact me for guidance if you’re not sure.

  • AVOID: swimming pools, hot tubs, baths (not showers), saunas, prolonged sun exposure, any products that are not recommended, or any pets touching the tattoo until it is fully healed.
